Facilitator Bio

I have over 14 years of experience as an independent facilitator and have had the opportunity to walk alongside individuals with disabilities and their families as they explore possibilities and work towards a life that reflects their interests, hopes and dreams. My work has included person-directed planning, supporting transitions from high school into adult life, exploring employment and community opportunities, developing housing visions and plans, navigating services and funding, and building relationships and connections. I am particularly interested in supporting people to develop valued social roles, contribute to their communities and build relationships and opportunities that reflect who they are. I have also created and facilitated a family network in Perth County, bringing families together to share experiences, learn from one another and support each other.

I bring a practical, hands-on approach to my work. I am persistent, resourceful and willing to think outside the box, make connections, work through barriers and find ways to move ideas forward. I believe a good plan needs to lead to action. I have also facilitated workshops, including the nine-week Safe & Secure series, as well as workshops and presentations on housing and financial resources.

My education and training include a background in social work, leadership training with John Lord, Social Role Valorization and training through Microboards Ontario. I have been connected with OIFN and other groups and learning opportunities, and have contributed to housing initiatives, including the Housing Task Force.

I am committed to ongoing learning, staying informed about changes in disability services and resources, and reflecting on my practice. My approach is grounded in respect, listening and keeping the person’s voice, choices and vision at the centre, in keeping with OIFN’s Scope of Practice and Guide for Ethical Conduct.
